Getting Started as a Translator for Bahmni on Transifex

We appreciate your interest in supporting Bahmni as a translator. We are thrilled to welcome you aboard! Here is a detailed guide to assist you in getting started with translating the Bahmni resource on Transifex.

Sign Up on Transifex

Before engaging in any projects or translation tasks, it is essential to have a free translator account on Transifex. You can obtain an account through two methods:

Creating an Open Source Transifex account

  1. Visit the Transifex Website:
    Go to Transifex.

    Click on "Google (Business)”
  2. Sign In with Google:
    Click on "Google (Business)" and sign in using your email ID.

  3. Complete Your Profile:

    1. Add a username and click on "Complete Signup".

    2. Make sure to select "Join an existing organization" and click on “Continue.”

    3. Fill in your first and last name, then choose which languages you can speak.

  4. Complete Your Sign Up:
    Upon completion, you will be directed to the Explore page where you can discover and participate in projects. Kindly check your email for the activation link and proceed by clicking on it to activate your account.

Joining a Team through Invitation

If you have received an invitation to join a translation team on Transifex, follow the instructions provided via email link for setting up your account successfully by clicking Create my account.

Upon creating your account, you will be automatically redirected to the respective Team page.

Join the Bahmni Project on Transifex

  1. Visit the Bahmni Project Page:
    Navigate to the Bahmni project on Transifex and click on the "Join This Project" button.

  2. Select Your Team:
    Once you join the Bahmni project. Click on “Join Team”. This will prompt you to choose the languages you can speak from the dropdown menu.

    This will assign you as a member of the OpenMRS Community Translation Team for the selected languages.

Reviewers Needed

For individuals who have been active within either Bahmni or OpenMRS communities for some time and wish to become reviewers overseeing specific languages, please consider sharing this intention by posting a message within the community platform.
